Why not try out our own recipe for tomato sauce for you home-made pizza. It also works great on pasta or meats.
• 3 Tbsp. of Olive oil
• 3 garlic gloves peeled and finely chopped
• 1 bunch fresh basil, leaves picked and torn
• 3 x 400 g good-quality tinned plum tomatoes
• Sea Salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
Place a non-stick frying pan to the heat and add the 3 Tbsp. of olive oil add the garlic and cook until it until it starts to colour lightly.
Add the basil and the tomatoes. Start to mash the tomatoes as much as you can.
Season the sauce with salt and pepper. As soon as it comes to the boil, remove the pan from the heat.
Strain the sauce through a coarse sieve into a bowl, using a wooden spoon push any larger bits of tomato through.
Pour the sauce back into the pan, bring to the boil, then turn the heat down and simmer for 5 minutes
The sauce is ready to use. Using the back of a spoon spread finely over the pizza base. And now you are ready to add your pizza toppings.
